Life at WeShape- January

Life at WeShape- January

This January was packed with lots of exciting activities at WeShape such as dry January, new starters, a quarterly kick-off meeting and lots more.

Starting off this blog, we’d like to focus on new starters and say a massive welcome to Leah McCarthy, our new personal assistant! She has brought so much value to WeShape already and we can’t wait to see how much more progress she will make!

From January, Safiyah Zaman (one of our junior tech consultants) has joined our team in the office as well and we’ve loved seeing her around more now, reading lots of big books and code!

Congratulations to Jamie Marney (one of our Business Development Lead's) who passed his probation period this January as well. You’ve achieved so much already and we can’t wait to see how you’ll keep developing with WeShape!

We’d like to take the time to say congratulations to Ben Simpson and his wife for the birth of their newborn baby! We hope he enjoys the WeShape style new babygrow.

Further adding to all the joyful celebrations, January was a busy month for birthdays! Firstly, WeShape celebrated Mas Ezzat’s (our operations manager) birthday in traditional Mas style with a red velvet cake and bottle of Prosecco. We also celebrated Safiyah and Matt Smith’s birthday as well with lots of chocolate cake.

Amongst all the celebrations, we held our first quarterly kick-off meeting of the year. This is a great chance for everyone’s voices to be heard and for leadership to update the team with exciting new updates and opportunities.

In January, we braved the cold weather and played our first 2023 6-aside football match against Linux Recruit (and won again with a score of 6-5). Congratulations to everyone who played!

On the 26th, we co-hosted our 71st London DevOps. This one was held at Microsoft Reactor office in London and focused on CI/CD pipelines with speakers from Microsoft, Theodo UK and Tide. The community has rapidly grown; amassing around over 9000 members and almost 400 signups to one event. Over the course of 2022, we’ve held these events at massive companies such as KPMG and Meta. If you are interested in attending future events, click the link here.

On the 21st, Craig Norford (one of our Junior Tech Consultants) ran a brunch and code workshop at LeWagon which Will Eustace, Pat Bate and Lana Williams attended to support him and find out more about coding. This workshop is suitable for all ranges of tech experience so if you’re interested in future events, click here.

On the 27th, we also co-hosted the launch of Tech 432 with the Tech Pathway. The workshop centred around equipping people with employability skills within the Tech industry with experienced speakers from Capgemini, Accenture and Lloyds Bank. Congratulations to Yetunde Animashaun for the launch and we can't wait to see where this adventure will take you!
